Of Dreams and Goldfish

ARTIST: Gabriel Inton
PROJECT: "Goldfish" 2006
MEDIUM: Adobe Photoshop
ARTIST STATEMENT: While I was living in New York City, I dreamt that I had swallowed a gold fish. When I woke up, I found myself trying to release the gold fish from my mouth, being careful not to bite down at all. Once I realized there really wasn't an actual gold fish in my mouth, I sat down and drew this little fella on the computer.

What Some People Used to Want to Be When They Grew Up

ARTIST: Gwen Tulin
PROJECT: "What Some People Used to Want to Be When They Grew Up," 2006
MEDIUM: Cardstock and Sharpie
ARTIST STATEMENT: I originally did this project in a multimedia writing class when I was at Brandeis. In its original version it is a leather bound book with big laminated cards with different stories about what my friends used to think being a grown-up would be like. These are the trading cards I made to go with the project (collect all 48!). They are all actual ideas that people had -- I did interviews for the project. I am always interested in what our ideas of ourselves in the future are, and how no matter where you go there you are so it is still you and not the imagined you that you thought would be. This project is also published on the New York e-zine, "Two Friends" (www.twofriendsmagazine.com). Thanks for looking at my project!
